“Welcome back, my friends, to the show that never ends…..”
Manticore is the group that takes you back to the raw, energetic and bombastic Emerson Lake & Palmer concert experience, harkening back to their early days, in the 1970s. ELP was the supergroup best known for taking classical pieces from such composers as Bach, Bartók, Copland, Mussorgsky & Ginastera and spinning them on their head by injecting synthesizers, distorted Hammond organ, rock and roll percussion and fuzz bass into the mix.
Manticore performs 100% live, with no backing tracks or pre-recorded assistance, many of ELPs better-known pieces while throwing in rarities and deep tracks to keep hard-core fans on their toes. Rob Shepard, Ron Ponella and John Cristando deliver the goods in recreating the original studio-recording versions of such classics as “Lucky Man”, “Tarkus”, “Hoedown” and “Fanfare for the Common Man”, to name but a few.
Lauded by still-surviving founding ELP member, Carl Palmer, and called “absolutely fabulous” by the Regina Lake, wife of late, great singer and bassist, Greg Lake, Manticore presents ELPs music as it’s best remembered – with precision, accuracy and a stage show that will wow those unacquainted just as much as devotees.
